Inspired by Robin Reid’s image http://www.pbase.com/rtwo/image/72041714
I too have to start using my 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM lens.
But first I really need to spend some time in the gym working out my arms.

Get your self a good monopod, even with strong arms and tranning you will suffer (not in your photos) I know I train and shot with the 70-200F2.8

That's one large lens...

I really like both yours and Robin's images. Next time Q and I take a skip out there, we'll have to get a shot of the three of us and our exactly the same equipment.

Happy New Year, Gary!!

The weight deters me too, and I am sticking to my resolve. Thanks for the brotherhood here Gary.
Nice treatment on your presentation.

Gary,
save on the gym expenses by taking the camera and lens combo out for an hourly walking session every day. For the first couple of days leave the tripod mount home and as you feel stronger add the extra weight.
When not shooting, but walking around, cradle it in the crook of your left arm.

very sensible!

Whoa! I don't really envy the lens -- I've decided it's much too heavy for me. However, I DO want one of them there flashie thingies. That looks uber cool. Plus, it would appear you have a good tripod -- another item on my wish list. I have a tripod that is well, not quite up to snuff.

Anyway -- good luck with your resolution -- i look forward to seeing the results!
