Sun (White Light), February 26, 2024

Bartlett, Illinois

The large sunspot is Active Region 3590. According to NASA A.R. 3590 is now the largest sunspot of the current solar cycle. Last week, A.R. 3590 produced three X-class solar flares in rapid succession, including the strongest flare of the current solar cycle (X6.3). Since then the sunspot has been relatively quiet, producing only a handful of low-level M-class solar flares.
