This sandhill crane hatched from a nest in Lake County, Illinois in 2012. It was banded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources just before it was able to fly. Its sibling was killed by a great horned owl. Now 8 years old I spotted it with other cranes at Black Tern Marsh.
