Save the road, destroy the dunes. The sand and grass didn't stand a chance against the rocks and heavy equipment the Province of Nova Scotia sent in to protect the road. These photos were taken Nov 14, 2007, near the end of the 10,000 tonnes of rock that was placed where the dunes used to live.
This is a travesty. Someone with a lack of imagination and certainly a lack of environmental knowledge must have led the decision on the Crescent Beach project. I would doubt the folks living on the La Have Islands would approve of the road being the priority at the expense of the dunes. Go figure, NS Gov't -- time to hire wisdom over brawn. Wendy Michener
