A vibrant, stimulating and charismatic city of some 20 million people, Mumbai is India’s past, present and future merged into a vast overpopulated, dilapidated and frenzied metropolis. This gallery only represents a minute fraction of what Mumbai has to offer - the district of Colaba. The majority of the images are of the Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat; a place where some 5000 men use open-air troughs to beat out the dirt of soiled clothes brought from all over Mumbai each day.
