This heron was out in a pond ready to pounce on some tasty fish or frog. Then it saw me approaching and took off. Fortunately it didn't go too far and I was able to take some close shots with the help of a Tamron TC 1.4x. You can see its tongue sticking out just at the end of its bill, perhaps savouring what might have been. The metering was terrible because sunlight was beaming right on the white part of the head (good for the eyes as sunlight really brings it to life).
