Why did the turtle cross the road? To get to the other side of course. Unfortunately they do it so slowly.

I saw this turtle right in the middle of the road. I waited for it to move but it stayed right there. I encouraged it to move but it had other ideas. I grabbed the turtle and tried to lift it but it fought my efforts. The turtle still has quite a bit of leverage within that shell even when picked up off the ground. The shell is slippery and left a musty smell on my hands. I didn't want it to slip from twisting while in my grasp and then have it clamp down on my hands.

It was a feisty turtle. It was twisting a lot while I had it in my hands. It snapped its head back several times (to try and get my fingers no doubt) but I finally managed to stabilize it when it clamped down on a snow scraper I held near its head. With its teeth clamped on the snow scraper it didn't twist around anymore.

wow, I heard that these can cut off a few fingers in no time. how about grabbing it by the tail? I would not know how to handle such creature. I guess it is quite scary if you don't have a tool to grab it.
