How do you spot a Pilot whale?

The Pilot Whale is the most commonly sighted whale in the Pleasant Bay area. The head is bulbous and blunt and the blow is low and barely visible from afar. Its dorsal fin is thick with a long base. Pilot whales may travel in groups of 2 to 200 or more. The two pictured here were swimming right alongside our boat when I took the picture with a Tiffen MegaPlus 2x tele-converter.
