Leaping off rocks at the popular Mary Ann Falls

A 7 to 8 kilometer gravel road leads to the popular Mary Ann Falls, a popular spot for swimmers and sunbathers alike. I hear that coyotes, bobcats and black bear have been spotted in the area although I didn't get to see any while up there.

The first time I was at MA Falls was about 44 years ago when I was only 16!!! At that time the road to the falls was a twisting and tight-winding dirt road and the parking was only a couple of feet from the falls where cars pulled in wherever they chose. My siblings and I jumped off the same rocks and spent what seemed like hours exploring up and down the river, clamboring over rocks that seemed as large as cars, then diving into several of the pools we discovered around the bend. We were the only ones there and I do not think that the falls were very well known. I've been back several times since and have followed the improvements made to access the falls. I just hope increased tourism doesn't harm them or destroy the beauty to be discovered.
