This is crop from the other photo. The owl was already hunting at 5PM. From the blood on the bill, it's obvious it had just eaten something. After 10+ minutes perched there it went to hunt again.

The weather was perfect for seeing a great gray owl. Mild, bright overcast and light to no wind.
