Just slightly larger than a sparrow this is the smallest of our sandpipers. Easy to overlook due to their size, they can be found feeding along the edges of mud flats. Juveniles have well-defined edges to their feathers unlike the adult birds which have worn feathers that are less distinct.
Least Sandpipers breed from the northern boreal forest to the sub-Arctic tundra.
