A thrill to find a roost of 4 to 6 Long-eared Owls. Lots of white-wash and pellets below. No, this is NOT Amherst Island.

As I bent over to inspect the white-wash, the owl flushed right above me. Three other owls followed within 30 seconds. Later, I saw about 2 other owls coming from behind the same stand of trees. Now, it is possible these 2 owls had sneaked back when I wasn't looking. So, four owls for sure and possibly six. It wouldn't surprise me if there were actually more at this location.
