The didjeridu (commonly spelled didgeridoo) or yiraki of the Australian aboriginal people is a very ancient instrument with considerable acoustic interest, despite its extremely simple construction. It consists of a more-or-less straight piece of tree trunk or branch, hollowed out by the action of fire and termites to produce a gently flaring tube.
