Pololu Trail and Beach, June 2016
Parking is a drama. Available is only a space for a handful of cars, and backing out can prove to be a difficult undertaking with a lot of patience. Hike time is merely approx. 20-25min to the Pololu Valley. The Black Sand Beach itself has more stones than sand, but the outlook is magnificent. The Pololu Stream builds a few safe from waves pools, in which many visitors swim. A man-made attraction (or annoyance for others) are the countless stone sculptures, (which are not a Hawaiian tradition, but rather brought from the mainland.) From there trail leads to the next valley of Honokane Nui (hike time 1.5 to 2 hours each way). I had my wife waiting for me at the top, thus the long hike was not an option.
