<< Fly back to Kaho`olawe | Fly to Kahului along Hana Road >> We left Kaho`olawe and set our heading for Molokini, which is a favorite destination of snorkeling tours. From there we arrived at the far side of Haleakala. You can see patches of black recent lava, which constitutes some of the youngest parts of Maui. Last lava flow on Maui was observed around 1790. We followed Maui's shoreline till we reached the lush windward side of the island and the town of Hana. Numerous famous places could be seen along our journey, such as the Pools of `Ohe`o ("Seven Pools") On the dry leeward side of Maui we saw numerous ruins and remnants of Hawaiian settlements. |
