Kamokila Village
(Seen in Sep.2002 and Sep.2010) The Village is an open air museum presenting a replica of a Hawaiian village with all types of Hales (houses.) Kamokila means "the stronghold". The museum has now its own nicely done web page providing more detailed information about all attractions for visitors. This map of vicinity shows how to reach the village. Visitors receive a detailed map of the village, however this map must be returned upon leaving. Without this description we cannot identify all of these Hales correctly. The Village is maintained by native Hawaiians. It is in a very good shape. Several probably imported Peacocks graze on the grounds. If you look for Hawaiiana and a quiet day on Kaua'i, this is definitely a good place to stop by! |
