Square Butte, visible for 100 miles in any direction, dominates the landscape in this part of Montana.
At an elevation of 5,720 feet, it rises 2,500 ft. above the valley floor. The top of the butte is still
covered with native grasses, a small island in a sea of prairie now broken for agrarian purposes.
