Our second stop of the day was the east portal of 2,014 ft. Tunnel 1 at MP 86.2. When the Milwaukee Road
went bankrupt for the last time in 1980, the Spring Creek Junction to Geraldine portion of the Northern Montana
Division was sold to BN who, in 1985 sold it to the newly formed CMR. The BN had threatened abandonment
due to the conditon of the track but shippers along the line filed suit, hence the sale.
