Our good friend, engineman Gerry "Brass" Campion, retired from a long career at Canadian National
on November 20, 2008. He wanted us to take some candid photographs of him at work before the
big day finally arrived. This was supposed to be a night shot but in the real world of railroading,
events rarely proceed as planned. Gerry's second last 114 Train arrived on schedule in Hanna
around 06:00 taking the siding as per instructions from the CN Desk L Dispatcher. As the light
in the eastern sky kept getting brighter, counterpart 115 kept falling back further. The two
trains finally got into radio range and a firm time for the meet was agreed upon. A few minutes
before the arrival of 115, Gerry climbed off the 2285 to do a rollby. Despite our best laid plans
going awry the end result to us seems quite satisfactory as Gerry does his due diligence while
115s 12,000 feet of intermodal streams by.
