The next morning we followed the Trail Hotshot from Nelson over to Trail. The Hotshot is a shadow of its former self
now that the majority of the input for the Trail smelter comes from the Red Dog mine in Alaska. Unfortunately, the
morning light doesn't get good until the line turns south at Castlegar. The foliage along the tracks has grown
exponentially in the last 25 years making photography next to impossible. A few miles east of Trail the country
finally opened up enough to get a decent view of the whole train.
