In 2009 I planted a few flowers in pots and two old horse troughs (to keep the dogs from tramping through the flowers). Most of these shots were taken in late afternoon sunlight, from 4:30 - 6:15 p.m., which is the amount of daylight I have on the flower garden after work. Some of the very dark (almost black) backgrounds are the result of deep shadows under large oak trees behind the flowers. The 'perches' are sticks that I stuck down in the plants to give the hummers a place to stop and pose for photos. I don’t think any of these photos have any flash, maybe a few.
