Key West and Dry Tortugas

I have lived in Florida for over five years and I finally took a trip to Key West the southern most point of the continential United States. It is a great place to visit with beautiful sunsets. So much to do or do nothing at all and enjoy the beaches. I also enjoyed the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. I highly recommend a visit to it. I also took a day trip via a catamaran to the Dry Tortugas which are 70 miles west of Key West. Fort Jefferson is the main attration on Garden Key and it is worth seeing. I did visit the fort, but have to admit, I spent most of my time snokeling in the beautiful waters of Garden Key. It is little known that this island is also a popular place for refugees from Cuba to enter the United States as there are less Coast Guard patrols in this area than in Miami. On the day I was there 4 people landed on the island from Cuba. They were taken to Key West to start the naturalization process via our tourist boat. It was a really interesting day.
