OK, I didn't take any pictures putting the bike back together, but FWIW I dropped well over $800 and did all the labor myself. The worst part is that seeing all the crap in the motor I knew that this saga was not over. I did several oil changes right off the bat. Managed to get around 1000 miles on it before it started banging loud enough that I was afraid to ride it anymore. Bike sat for about a year while I saved money and looked for a donor motor. Motors of this year, 2001, and close seem to be hard to come by. Finding broken engines being parted is not a problem though. Finally found another motor(another grand), changed that MUTHER-FUCKING bearing right off the bat, and am in the process of getting it back together.

What you should be taking away from all this is that if you have a pre-2002 LC4, change that $100 bearing ASAP. It might take you half of a Saturday afternoon if you take your time. It will save you a whole hell of a lot of headaches, money, and frustration at not being able to ride one of the best dirt capable dual sport motorcycles there is. Don't come whining to me if you don't take this advice.
