arrogance

Chichen Itza, Mexico

the arrogance of power....some believe that power equals dominance, while others offer a more sophisticated view

As Fulfbright once wrote..“The more I puzzle over the great wars of history, the more I am inclined to the view that the causes attributed to them–territory, markets, resources, the defense or perpetuation of great principles–were not the root causes at all but rather explanations or excuses for certain unfathomable drives of human nature. For lack of a clear and precise understanding of exactly what these motives are, I refer to them as the “arrogance of power”–as a psychological need that nations seem to have in order to prove that they are bigger, better, or stronger than other nations."'

Striking image that invites us to reflect on how often history has been shaped by inflated egos and unchecked ambition, and how those cycles seem to echo into the present.....V

A very fitting image for the accompanying message. History, so negatively impacted by individuals with inflated egos, seems to be repeating once again.

"Arrogance of power" is most definitely apt. for what is happening at this moment. What a fiasco and a horror. But your shot, on the other hand, is nicely captured.

Great shot, and the quote sounds very familiar.

Don't tell a certain person that he has been carved into history - it will pander to his narcissism.
