ruins

Mycenae, Peloponnisos, Greece

with a 25% U.S. tariff on imports from Canada taking effect next week, and persistent, disrespectful comments on Canada becoming a 51st state, a longtime friendship is now almost in ruins

those tariffs will not only be ruinous to many Canadian businesses, but will also result in big price increases for American people...this is their administration's thanks to voters

I’m so embarrassed right now. It’s truly horrific. I love Canada. The ruins represent the failure of our republic turning into an oligarchy. V

I can't help thinking of Shelley when we see what destruction is being done south of us by a tyrant and would-be king:

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

I couldn't agree with you more, David, and the fine image of the Greek ruins is a very appropriate one in respect of your reference to US-Canadian relationships. My younger son lives in London, Ontario and I'm more than a little concerned about the effect the tariffs could have on him and his family.

Ruined, that’s the word, and this beautiful image is perfectly illustrative of it...V.

It's more likely that western Washington state, western Oregon and California would be Canada's 11th Provence.

Hopefully, this too shall pass, and sane heads will prevail.

A fitting metaphor.

Looks like a place that would be interesting to visit. A lot of people voted for the current administration, for reasons I don't understand, but I'm sure they'll be sorry for having done it in the end.

Every day brings worse and worse news in my country. I’m glad I can escape to pbase and see sights like this. I like the cheerful yellow flowers growing in the ruins.

Great view of these interesting Greec ruins. Nicely captured from this spot. V!
