habitat

the forest is largely left to evolve naturally, with dead trees kept intact to serve as wildlife habitat, in this case a Northern Flicker delivering food to one of her offspring

a tighter shot would have been preferable, but not possible due to the lack of a special Woodpecker lens..

It is very high up and the dead tree looks to be very big. A great take. V

These old dead trees are wonderful habitat for woodpeckers. Nice shot.

A fine catch of this Flicker tending to the chicks.

Despite the lack of an essential woodpecker lens, you still got a good shot of the woodpecker feeding a youngster.
