Scenic, South Dakota

on a rainy day this old town, between Rapid City and Badlands NP, still retained a certain character from earlier days..alas, the Longhorn Saloon was closed, so no chance to chat with locals, if there are any left

Cool shot, bummer they were closed. Must have been quite the place in its day.

It was a chance for you the Saloon was closed. You could have encountered some strange ghostly creatures...

What a find, pure moody gold...hitch'n rail and cow skulls in the wild!

The ghosts of patrons long gone can almost be seen here. A scene full of broken dreams. V

You might have found some ghosts in the Longhorn Saloon...the dreary day really fits perfectly with the place.

I agree with Marcia re the rain. It really emphasized the forlorn nature and beauty of these deserted places. Ace shot showing all of that. ~BV~

Interesting name for this town, and great shot of the saloon, which looks like it's been closed for a very long time.

I think the rain made this jaunt even better. It lends itself to a forlorn appeal ~VVV~
