smoke on the water

the ongoing heatwave has facilitated disastrous wildfires in Alberta and northern British Columbia, with towns threatened and thousands evacuated...already some smoke is drifting down to the coast, with more on the way

It's so sad that these things happen...I hope the fires can be controlled and extinguished

I like this picture very much though the story behind it is really sad. And it must be way to early for the wild fire season!!! V

Nicely composed shot of the lone paddler with the behemoths off in the distance. V

We have been seeing red sunsets in the hazy sky around here too, because of the smoke.

It is disheartening to learn about the wildfires and their far-reaching consequences. The smoky haze casts an enigmatic aura over the distant mountains, adding a touch of mystique to the landscape....V

Another sad fire season has started, a compelling image that tells a story, David. V

That’s sad to hear about the wildfires. The smokey light creates a mysterious feel to the distant mountains.

Every year Canada pays a heavy price to nature with these huge and devastating forest fires!

Very sorry for the smoke and fire but this is a beautiful composition. V

Sad to hear of the fires and resulting smoke. Seems so early for a fire season.
Nick Paoni18-May-2023 03:12
That's awful. Those fires are so damaging and the effects can be felt far from the flames, as you are witnessing here. As far as the shot, love the contrast between the different "boats".

What a great comp for sure David! BZ-V!

I really like the progression of shore to rock to water to mountains with the human element in the middle. Sad news about the wildfires, again.

It is a small world with some smoke reaching my area. It is deceivingly beautiful. I like the contrast between the paddler and large ships. V

A well composed image David with the smoke haze in the distance. That's quite a disaster with all those huge wild fires out west.

The rower real brings this composition
to the next level!

Fine shot with a hint of smoke, and I like how the sole paddler almost looks bigger than all the freighters.

So sad about the fires, especially so early in the year. At the end of the heatwave here the air quality warning was in unsafe. Cool shot of the guy cooling off on the water.
