container complications

Inner Harbour

more pandemic fallout has resulted from lockdowns and restrictions...they led to people spending less on services and more on goods, increasing demand for items, and so leading to a shortage of available shipping containers, in a time of fewer ships at sea...therefore freight costs started rising, meaning higher prices for consumers...Covid has really complicated life for us all, and in so many ways

The freight situation is indeed a mess with lots of far reaching implications. I love this dynamic view of your port. ~BV~

I agree with your narrative - there's still lots missing from our high street shops too. Great pic too - despite the apparent lack of action, there's so much to look at here...

Yes it has. There are still empty shelves in the grocery store. I find the cranes and smaller boat in the foreground fascinating. V

It's always interesting to see what's missing at the supermarket each week. At least we have toilet paper. :)

Great shot showing the jam-packed facilities and gigantic cranes. V

This pandemic, which has been going on for more than a year and a half, should make governments, businesses and consumers think twice about the choice of globalization, but despite the fine words of all the stakeholders, I don’t think the world will change once the situation becomes "normal".

Right on David. And, it is not over yet.

What a neat shot,I'm with Raymond they are like steel dinosaurs. Store shelves are empty of many items down here, a shortage of trucks and drivers.

The ripple effects are reaching the consumers for sure...I like the cranes, they are like steel dinosaurs. V

You’re right about that David! That’s a good size container port. My husband used to work as a third mate on a container ship right after he graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Terrific industrial shot. Yep once they start the dominos continue to fall.

Fine capture of the container terminal, and quite an interesting narrative as well.
