tourists

Canada Place

as of Nov 1 the ban on cruise ships is set to be lifted...although one might shudder at the thought of tourist-laden ships like the MV Norovirus or the Covid Princess arriving once again, still there are economic benefits for the ailing tourist businesses...in 2018 for instance, cruise ships arriving in BC, mostly Vancouver and Victoria, pumped $2.3 billion dollars into the economy, and provided 15,000 jobs

"MV Norovirus" :o)...I'd run a mile if I saw that approaching! A grand composition with those fascinating shapes and lines of the sails

So bad when all of the choices have such terrible consequences.
I am glad that I don't have to make such decisions.
This is such a beautiful composition!

Great that the people are included for a sense of scale. V

An excellent vertical comp with light and impressive white sail structures. Sad about the cruise industry but unfortunately it too adds to the global environmental impact. V

Excellent sense of scale. Your perspective is excellent with the soaring lines. It sounds like a double edged sword. The money is needed, but Covid is still a threat. V

Love this angle - and so pleasantly sans tourists !!! Tough on the industry, but a nice chance for locals to enjoy what we have !! V

Not too many tourists out and about under those magnificent sails. Let's hope the plague will soon dwindle to restore prosperity for those affected in the industry.

Lets hope it does open up for the cruise industry as planned. Any further shutdowns would be terrible.

A lovely composition, with the two figures so nicely framed.

Very cool with these giant sails. I was never interested in going on a cruise but some people love them. I would rather fly into some place and soak up the culture. A gorgeous day for this pretty shot.

Great view along the promenade

Cool perspective with these giant sails and blue sky. Nice with the tow figures at this spot. "V"
Cruise Ship industry is big here too. Almost 350,000 passengers arrived here during the 2019-20 season.

Great perspective for this striking capture. I guess there are disadvantages to both the ships making port calls there and also their absence.

Excellent perspective and framing. V.

Very nicely composed image, I have no desire to ever go on a cruise ship, and I had that opinion before covid!
