coal train

White Rock

BNSF owns the tracks now, used for hauling raw materials to the port for export...in this case the cars were loaded with coal..in passing through the railroad cuts off the pier from the town amid the rumble of commerce

This looks imposing, and so close to the walkway too!

I never realized BNSF went to your side of the border. Excellent shot of this coming at you near dusk, or so it appears. ~BV~!

I'll bet the driver of this train enjoys his ride right along the waterfront.

Neat as the train lights serve as a beacon of hope....

Saw a lot of these long haul trains as we crossed the Canadian tundra.

Great pov and compo! V!

Nice shot David. That's probably coal we ship to China so they can pollute the air and have the wind or air currents spread it all over the world. We may feel good about not burning coal, but we don't mind having others do it for us in huge quantities.
Dennis Hoyne09-Jan-2021 01:58
Nicely composed the train has an almost threatening look to it.

Love the angle here - shows the commanding power of the locomotive.

Excellent composition … very similar
to an image that I captured awhile
back in Ontario.

Tend to forget that coal is still used somewhere, but in BC? A coal train seems an anomaly, but at any rate it makes for a very cool shot. V

Great perspective for this fine capture. Coal transport to be used in iron and steel production I suppose. V!

Excellent photo.
But coal? That seems pretty antediluvian for British Columbia.
Helen Betts08-Jan-2021 17:08
Fine capture of this impressive locomotive, which looks out of place along the promenade and pier.
