distressing

Donegal, Ireland

recently this same little cousin sent along photos taken by my uncle during a 1962 return visit back home to Ireland...my outfit was typical for teens back then, consisting of abominable conservative casual wear, and topped by distressingly short hair...luckily by the end of the 1960s counterculture styles freed us forever from that Dad-on-the-weekend look

So true. Yet it is quite entertaining to see what we used to look like. It is a good shot of you, nonetheless.

Ha, my chuckle for the day after a long drive home. You reminded me of what my brother looked like here. Dad on the weekend look describes it perfectly!

You should have taken this photo to the hairstylist you visited after the lockdown had been eased, when you took that wild selfie. She would have had something to go by. V.

We all have photos from our youth that are better left in a box somewhere. (preferably on fire) Could be worse! Somehow we always ended up with buzz cuts and turtlenecks… even in the summer… Until around 10 or 11… then they had to catch us to make us do anything!
Dad on the weekend? LOL! You had to get away from that ASAP! V

Take solace in the fact that we all dressed and looked that way at that time. V

Amazing that the this 'look' that is around today isn't far from this - a great memory image.

Certainly looking very 1962 here. Luckily no white belt to go with this. Still, nice to have this treasure of a photo.

I think the "Dad-on-the-weekend look" describes it perfectly. Glad things have changed since then!

It is interesting (I have noticed this with other photos of young people from the same time) how old teenagers looked dressed that way! Thank goodness for the peace and love era!
