comfort

compounding the tribulations of the current health crisis is the closure of so many businesses...a few are still open though, to offer some comfort to any who need it

the yellow sign, written in cursive and a bit hard to read, says 'not all who wander are lost'

A welcome window into the
sign of the times.

It’s still illegal in NY. Weed should be legal everywhere. However, I can get margaritas delivered to my house. I love the seedy mood. V

According to the national news home delivery is booming right now for at least this industry. The economy seems to be "going up" in smoke with a few exceptions. I would prefer an isolated walk in a beautiful forest or eating the foods my doctor says I should not eat as my outlet. I do like the photo with your exposure and strong contrasts. V+

A story to be told. As long as the liquor stores remain open, I might survive!

beautiful night shot, I love the warm light, it's comforting! V

Well captured and hopefully helping those in need to calm down.

What a marvelous shot - you handled the light so perfectly. BV
PS Love that Tolkien poem - goes well.

A wonderful and apt nighttime image.

A nice capture and message.

Always loved that quote. After all, it is a pharmacy, just a botanical one, and yes, a comfort for some.

To each is own goo. Nicely captured, David. V

They're still all open here in Quebec … not about to close those shops, a cash cow for the government, like cigarettes and the liquor stores.
Doug Cruden19-Mar-2020 20:54
This is a lovely shot David...the warmth of the lighting is superb, and I love the sentiment behind the words...fab stuff!
Nick Paoni19-Mar-2020 20:10
With most stores closed here, these shops remain open, which I'm sure is comforting and important to those who rely on it.

very nice image lovely captured.V.

Well taken. However to me it looks like the proverbial "den of iniquity".
Helen Betts19-Mar-2020 18:03
A fine night shot of this still-open shop. I had heard they were still in business in some places, for medical use.

From J.R.R. Tolkien poem. My favorite and on my signature and FB page

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”

Well documented and the image is a comfort to see. Let’s hope for the best. V

This photo motivated me to look up the exact definition of "hobo". According to Wikipedia, a hobo is a migrant worker who is typically impoverished. A tramp, on the other hand, will work, but only when forced to. At the bottom of the hierarchy is the bum, who won't work at all.

I'm in the enviable position of being a bum on a pension. >:o)

Ours are still open too. Great framing of the scene.

A shop you can't find in France... Nice presentation of it ! V.

Cool shot with this lighting. Dispensaries are still open here. Perhaps a good option for those who need to calm down.
