park land

the ironically named Parkland Fuels Refinery in Burnaby seems at first glance a toxic blight, yet supplies about one third of local gasoline, and about one half of the jet fuel for the airport

Necessary evil. We will always need fossil fuel. V

Must be fascinating to watch those steams like smoke signals reaching towards those clouds...V

I'm resigned to the fact that ugly has to exist.

great capture of this refinement of oil and rising steam! V

Unfortunately we can't switch to alternative energy sources over night !!

An important part of the economy then. Love how the steam leads in to the clouds.

A necessary business in a lovely setting.

It looks like a space station! Until there are alternatives, we must appreciate what we have!

Cool shot. This must look fantastic at night.

That's a lovely sweep of the tree-lined hill in the background - seems to be saying that nature is mightier (and prettier) than any man-made effort :o)

An impressive and obviously important operation, nicely captured with that steam so well lit up.

Believe me, I understand. Coming from Houston, where much of the U.S. gasoline, plastics and chemicals are produced. Necessary evil. Jobs, transportation of all kinds depend on it. Even your electric car has plastics, vinyl and 0ther petroleum based components.

A very necessary part of the community it seems!
