boneta

Bisti Badlands, New Mexico

had to put on the thinking cap today, trying to work out logistical issues for a late winter trip to the US Southwest...mine is a Basque boneta, known in France as a beret

note that the fact this remote, sparsely visited area is only 35 miles from the Three Rivers Brewery in Farmington is completely irrelevant...well largely irrelevant...OK...OK...somewhat irrelevant

Nikon D7000
Nikkor 18-200mm - 1/1000s f/11.0 at 52.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

A lot of the hoodoos, including this one, have very definite personalities. Great framing and capture of this one. ~BV~

Before I saw the name I thought of an artist with a beret. Love this. V

It really does look like a beret.

So many interesting rock formations due to erosion and this is no exception. Great lighting on one of nature's sculptures. VV

LOL ! This is really a Basque with a beret ! Stunning... V.
Even today the Basque 's origin is not really clearly stated. Their language has nothing to share with the other European languages... One says they have a lot of common with the Mayas. But your image casts a new light to the subject :)

This stone beret looks awesome and just thinking about proximity of that brewery is so enticing! V

a beautiful rock formation, really it looks like a head with a "beret"! V

Well it does look like a beret, and I think it's tilted in the direction of a brewery, but I could be wrong. I'm sure you will have to check it out......a compelling reason to venture south.

Excellent find!! V!

Fascinating - looks like massive old bones stacked together with a loaf of bread on top! No wonder you're dreaming of faraway places now the rains have begun in earnest.

What a cool looking rock formation. It's very important to make sure there is a good place for refreshments when exploring the badlands. Make the plans and buy the tickets!

Like Jose I see a face under that hat, except the face I see is more on the homely side of the spectrum. Nicely composed image.
