smoke

once again, in yesterday's Economist rating, Vancouver is on the world's top ten most liveable cities list...presumably judges did not factor in forest fire smoke during late summer months

over 500 wildfires are currently burning in BC, and our neighbours in Washington state are kindly sharing their smoke too...well...sort of kindly!!

Horrible isn’t it.

It looks like falling snow. It’s amazing how thick it is. V

It is difficult to read about the massive fires burning in BC, heartbreaking in fact. This photo is sobering, but has its own beauty. V

Great photo journalism image of the after effects of the wild fires.

Not a view that one wants to see with the thick smoke, but it does make for an interesting documentary image. Hopefully they get a handle on the fires up your way and down here soon.

A very sad image seeing these conditions.

That looks so smoky … ugh, I can imagine it must bother a lot of folks eyes, throats and lungs. We've had dust in our skies this summer, all the way from Africa.

all these forest fires are very disturbing; it is the consequence of this scorching and very dry summer. V

So dramatic, not only for North America, but for the whole planet ! V.

Excellent! V!

A sad sight. Experience a lot of this last year in Seattle.

Well, I do believe some of that smoke is mingling with ours down here... makes me cough just looking at the image!

Very cool effects created by the smoke V
PS Looks very much the same here

Oh sure! Blame it on us! (cough cough) I live right across form you there buddy (cough cough) I detect Canadian softwood in the air! (cough cough) You guys did this to us last (cough cough) last year too! I think it's because Trudeau hates Trump and is getting even by killing off voters! ;-) (cough cough)

Unfortunately breathing smoke is increasingly a part of summer here as well.
janescottcumming15-Aug-2018 22:13
That smoke is certainly making a statement. What a shame.
Hank Vander Velde15-Aug-2018 22:10
Excellent shot but rather depressing to see all that smoke knowing the associated fire damage.

I can’t remember this haze years ago. Seems Mt. st. Helen was the first I experienced. Seems to be s common happening in summer now.

Insane. I saw a lot of this on the way home from Utah too. Reminds me of when I went to China in 1998 although theirs was just due to air pollution. Great documentation. ~V~

Wow, that's shocking. A great capture that looks nothing like the Vancouver I remember.
Jim Coffman15-Aug-2018 20:01
Wow, that is unbelievable!!
