cube house

masterpiece or monstrosity...so was the radical design characterized by a local newspaper...certainly this new structure came under the microscope as numerous neighbours criticized its look...it was quickly dubbed the cube house, and worse, and denigrated primarily for the simple, rather blunt design, particularly on the dominant south side...typical of Vancouver's crazy market, an older classic was sold for $3.5 million, knocked down, the newer structure, with two bedrooms and four bathrooms, and galvanized steel siding up top, put on the market for $8,195,000!!...at least there are not many windows to keep clean

I love old architecture, yet I'm drawn to these modern efficient styles that are built with the environment in mind....I like it. V

We have a whole neighborhood of these cube type homes here. I'm sure they are fantastic on the inside, and probably very energy efficient, but lacking the friendly, welcoming curb appeal of something more traditional. V

Can't believe those prices! Simple, plain lines but not my cup of tea. Well presented.

Not much real estate 🏡 for $8.000.000😲

The insanity of privilege. Well shown.

Someone must like it a lot for that price, it does look rather out of keeping with the neighbourhood.

Certainly a forbidding and brutal look toward the street. It is unfortunate that an older house was demolished to build this.

Even though cube-shaped houses are very frequently found everywhere in the world,
often matched with oversized windows but this particular one just makes me feel claustrophobic...excellent capture..V

The lack of windows makes it controversial I think. Much too boxy for my taste and the price tag is jaw dropping! V

The prices are incredibly hight ! Hope that there are more windows on the other side...We need light in a house ! V.

Ugly, but well captured and well explained.

A nice capture of this detention center looking building. V

Aesthetically unpleasing though probably efficient in utilization. Even the color lacks charm.
Nick Paoni16-May-2018 00:51
That sure makes a statement. The price seems so high from what can be seen from the outside, so the inside must be pretty special.

It rather matches, in its modernity, the white one next door. Not my favourite style of house for sure, in fact... quite unimpressed by it. But the price...! Anyway, you got a very fine shot of it. V

Probably an architectural masterpiece, but personally, I would not like to live next door....V ,
Lamar Nix15-May-2018 23:59
The home certainly makes a statement, accented by the flat-topped hedge around its periphery. And your elevation from the street presents it in a positive light! V

How very odd with no windows on that entire side. Nicely captured, but not sure I'd want it on my block.
