Goldfield, Apache Junction, Arizona

east of Phoenix by Apache Junction, this old mining town offered a rich seam of images, from rebuilt structures to numerous funky artifacts...there is also a working saloon, or so I've been told..

the town had it's short-lived heyday during the 1890s, but the gold ore soon played out

Terrific light and shadow contrasts in this image. What a great POV for this well composed capture. What a great look into the past. I visited there (the saloon) a number of years ago but it was late and was to dark for photography. VV

Great framing of the sunlit mountain putting the partially silhouetted ore train and trestle into the context of the mine's surroundings. Beautiful image and outstanding photography, David.

Strong composition with that large structure in the foreground framing the town. Too bad there's no gold left...
