witty

Metchosin, Vancouver Island

the previous two images were made at Witty's Lagoon, named after a local pioneer...in the 1800s John Witty was a successful farmer, and donated both land and money for the establishment of St Mary The Virgin Anglican church...ironically, two days before the church was consecrated, in 1873, Witty was kicked by a horse, and died...the first service here was John Witty's funeral, and he was also the first person buried in the churchyard

Interesting, ironic story behind this quaint place. Central Texas has a lot of little white churches like this too. V

A well composed image. Very nice lgihting, I like the shadow of the tree.
Interesting story. He is fortunate to have donated money just in time for his service and burial prior to that last kick. "V"

A very rural English garden scene; well conveyed David.
