tiers of terraces allowed the growing of food here, on a ridge high above the Urubamba River valley...the small structure is known as the Watchman's Hut...from beside it the classic high and wide view can be seen and captured...this is the reverse view from the central plaza...by staying the night at the one hotel actually up at the site, we gained extra time to explore the ruins...we also consumed more Pisco Sours at the hotel bar, so were quite high (8,000 ft after all) and effervescent the entire visit
