shadow

a shadow has fallen over the photography...five days ago slipped on wet tarmac while out with the camera...it turns out the hard fall caused a broken leg, specifically the tibia (shinbone), and badly strained calf muscles too...after surgery the left leg is now in a mean looking brace, and no weight can be put on that leg for at least six weeks...this should seriously impede photo taking for quite a while...will try to participate on pbase when I can...the more immediate challenge is how to function using crutches and a walker...maybe will have to start on a still life series, as getting around outdoors is now very difficult, and both hands are tied up just keeping balance

Sorry to hear about your accident, David. Wynn Bullock and Ansel Adams should be good companions during your recovery. Get well soon.

Beautiful light contrasting with the shadow and an Ansel Adams book on the shelf. A thoughtful image and shows even with a broken leg, the photographer still sees the beauty of his surroundings. Voted++++++++++

So sorry to hear this David, I wish you a speedy recovery but these things do take time.
I am sure will get used to the crutches and at least be partly mobile.
Love the light and shadows in the image.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear of your accident and its consequences. I think a still life series is a great idea -- it will keep you active but indoors so you can recover as quickly as possible.

Dang David; retirement doesn't mean sitting on your duff (through a bad calculation of friction and gravity's influences.)
Though it is a cool photo of the warm wood and the B&W ambiance.
Neil Marcus17-Dec-2014 02:27
That's a bad break for you literally and figuratively, David. Catch up on your reading and try for still life's.
Pieter Bos17-Dec-2014 01:17
Best recovery wishes!
The image is great! V.

Oh my David, so sorry to hear about the misfortune...yes, your photographic range will be limited and challenged but
with your keen eye I'm sure opportunities will arise around you. This is a perfect example, an intriguing image of light and dark. Ha ha you should perhaps start a gallery of images during this period...titled In Captivity perhaps? :0)
Anyways, take care and best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
Walter Otto Koenig17-Dec-2014 01:04
So sorry to learn this David. I wish you a complete and speedy recovery my friend. If I lived close I would stop by and visit for sure. Take good care!
