farewell

with LEDs slowly being installed on streets and paths around the city, a day will come when we bid farewell to the last of the old sodium vapour lights...pity though, as I will miss their golden reflections

Beautiful night cityscape, David. Yes, everything is changing with modern technology, and not always for the best.

A beautiful shot for us and future generations who will probably never know how nice was the light from Incandescent lamps... :)

This is lovely with the soft colours on the water. (Sadly there is always Photoshop for the LEDs)

Interesting observation and a fine nighttime photo, David. *V*

They certainly make lovely reflections but they play havoc with the WB if you are photographing things illuminated by them! So gather ye rose buds while ye may! V

Nice nocturne mood here, David. I, for one, will be happy to see an end to sodium vapor lamps and the rather ugly glow the cast upon the sky. They really are the bane of astronomers, and I dislike them for night photography as well. They do add color to your shot and I hope Vancouver doesn't go for sterile white. The ones on Lion's Gate do add a pretty color to the reflections on the water, yes?

very lovely exposure and of course, the warm reflections are a hit ! V

Beautiful night scene with wonderful golden reflections! V
I hope that the LED lights won't play tricks on your eyes ~ I find they can be difficult at times...

I love the lights and reflections. I didn't know that the sodium vapor lights made the gold colors. Beautiful night image. V.

It will be a shame to lose that golden reflection.

I agree. LED lights just don't cast the same light. This is a lovely ode to Vancouver nights. V
