let’s get digital, digital

if only Olivia Fig-Newton hadn’t wanted to get physical, she might have correctly indicated where the world was heading...in television news editing for example, the last 30 years have seen a progression from 16mm film, through several (3/4” U-Matic and then 1/2" high-speed Beta) videotape formats, to the present dominance of non-linear editing on PCs...the digital daydream has finally become the dominant reality in so many aspects of our lives

True that, though with an X Box 360 Kinect I suppose that you can connect the two neatly. I do like the "watching you, watching him" arrangement of this one.

When I look at the advances just in photography since I learned to develop film in 1973, it is really mind boggling. Fascinating and well composed image David.

I see the old RCA Indian Head test pattern in the upper left that would appear on the screen at the end of the broadcast day along with an piercing high pitched sound. It really brings home how far we've come.

I like the repetition in this image, how the the pose of the editor echoes the picture on the monitor.
Yes, digital has changed a lot of workplaces, usually with the loss of jobs and more pressure on
those who are left to do several tasks which were once done by many people.

Cool shot, my friend!
I have to admit, I love digital!
It enables me to do so many things I could only have dreamed of doing!

Cosy atmosphere after long hours of editing, it might be an Avid if I can see well. BV
