caught in the act

Moeraki Boulders, South Island, New Zealand

caught in the act at blustery Moeraki...a good friend’s photo, revealing a not-exactly chic sense of fashion, as well as the curled toes of a man paddling in very cold water...how else to get the shot...standing back from the surf just wasn’t an option

Olympus FE-270
1/640s f/4.9 at 13.3mm iso64 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

I am not sure if this is sufficient to 'put a face to the name' but what a great shot. Are this Trex eggs?

We all know it's about the shot, not high fashion. Roll up the pant legs and wade in, is what I say. Carry on!

That's the way to do it, David.
Roll up the sleeves, or, as in this case - the trousers and get stuck in.
Great to see the photographer at work....

Most interesting orbs that look like leather. The photog's presence adds that extra bit of interest. v

Bare foot and camera...my kind of photographer....

What gets me is those white legs.....looks like you forgot your gumboots which should be a part of any photographers kit along with a step ladder, chainsaw, helicopter and sun tanning lotion.

nice to see you in action!
it's possible that the proverb of Helene is right....
Walter Otto Koenig18-Dec-2008 15:50
Nice one of the maestro in action. Sometimes you have to really work to get the shot. This also puts these fascinating boulders into perspective.
Sandi Whitteker18-Dec-2008 13:51
These rocks are huge, now that I see them next to a person! Nice capture.

Je ne connaissais pas le proverbe d'Hélène :')) mais je pense qu'elle a raison!!!

Thanks to your friend to have the chance to see you in action David! ;) Isn`t it wonderful standing with "curled toes" in the cold water taking fotos ?! ;)
H2M18-Dec-2008 07:09
Hey David!! In France we have a proverb : The more the toes are curled the more the photographer is talented.......!!!! :o)

So it was you who scared away all the wildlife at Moeraki David. I like it.
