After a 5-hour midnight trip from Manila, we had another 4-hour land trip from Baguio City to Kabayan, Benguet. A briefing was held at the DENR station. More than 200 climbers were recorded in the logbook, with 51 climbers coming from our group. Another one hour was spent on a rough, one-way road to the Ranger Station before the start of the 3-hour trek to Camping Ground 2. We reached the camp past 3 PM. The sun set on our side and the night breeze was very cold. The evening sky was clear with plenty of stars shining very bright above the camp.
