Chewy was born early July 1997. She was one of Jinky's four puppies I saw on 13 July when my friend and cousin asked me to choose which puppy I would like to take care. I got the puppy the following week and that was the beginning the dog became part of our lives.

Being a Star Wars fan, her name was taken from the character Chewie, the nickname of Chewbacca, and furball friend of Han Solo. The puppy doesn't look like a Wookie but she looked liked an Ewok then. She was so small and was just bigger than the palm of your hand.

Chewy was an apt name because on her second day with us, she accidentally 'chewed' my hand while giving her food. Maybe she thought that the food will be up for grab again among her three siblings so she rushed to the food and along the way accidentally bit me. She had no rabies but I had to get four anti-rabies shots.
