Imperial Palace, Tokyo

These are a few pictures, all from the outside, of the Imperial Palace in the center of Tokyo. Naturally, it was closed the day we were there but the grounds themselves and the outside is simply spectacular.

(When you open a gallery, you can click on the thumbnails to get different sizes of photos. Then use next or previous to navigate through the photos, or use back to see thumbnails and pick individual pictures to enlarge.)

These grounds very immaculately manicured and simply breath-taking. There were several people just relaxing and enjoying this obvious oasis in the middle of a huge city.

Amazing that these grounds could exist in the middle of such a modernized city.

I just HAD to take this picture. I don't think he even had a weapon to defend himself, although I seriously doubt he would ever need it. Notice the white gloves and nearly all of the police wore them!

You can see the runners to the left of the picture. The Grounds are a haven for joggers and very popular even in the middle of the very, very hot day.

Of course I couldn't resist taking some type of artsy fartsy shot.

This was the beginning of my fascination with roof lines in Japan. You'll see plenty of other pictures similar to this one.
