In October 2009, after painstaking preparation, I managed with my friend and expert nature photographer Gabriele Grilli to make real the idea of spending a week in the Sinai during the crucial period of Raptors migration . Notwithstanding the complete freedom of movement given by the car hire, we had to face and solve various practical problems, including higher temperatures than the average of the period, the considerable physical effort, logistical inconveniences. But, as any avid photographer knows, a good haul of images is the best remedy for any situation of stress. And, in fact, what we have brought home has been very satisfying .
It goes without saying that the most exciting visions are the ones left in the Sinai, as always when you return from a photographic journey. We carry only fragments of reality, a large mosaic of scattered tiles that we can describe only in flashes.

Nell'Ottobre 09, dopo certosina preparazione, sono riuscito insieme al mio amico e sapiente fotonaturalista Gabriele Grilli a concretizzare l'idea di passare una settimana nel Sinai durante il periodo cruciale della migrazione dei Rapaci. Pur avendo la piena libertà di movimento data dalla vettura a nolo, abbiamo dovuto affrontare e risolvere vari problemi pratici, tra i quali le temperature più alte della media del periodo, il notevole impegno fisico,disagi logistici. Ma, come ogni appassionato di fotografia sa perfettamente, un buon bottino di immagini è il miglior toccasana per qualsiasi situazione di stress. E, in effetti, quello che abbiamo portato a casa ci ha molto soddisfatto.
E' scontato dire che le visioni più emozionanti sono quelle lasciate in Sinai, eppure è così, come sempre quando si ritorna da un viaggio fotografico. Portiamo solo dei frammenti di realtà,tessere sparse di un grande mosaico interiore che riusciamo a descrivere solo a sprazzi.
