Using a "High Jack" works the best for rebar. All the other myths are crap.

Pour a 1/2 gallon of water around the rebar also helps it slip out without leaving a hole.

Rebar sucks, very labor intensive to remove. Jack it out,keep a high lift jack on site and a short piece of chain, a loop around the rebar and a loop around the jack ( I use a chain looped with a bolt and nut) 30 seconds it is out with no hole to fill in.
