The trail of the Mountain Spirits National Scenic Byway follows the footsteps of those who preceded. Apache, Spaniard, Mexican, miner, rancher, outdoorsman. I seen only part of the variety in Grant County , from the high Chihuahuan desert to the snow touched wilderness. We visited the Gila River, Geromino Monument, Gila Cliff Dwellings, Lake Roberts but when we were there Fort Bayard was closed for repair. Very beautiful.
